Handpainted Porcelain Trinket Box - Armstrong

Very pretty oval trinket box is handpainted by L. Armstrong and dated 1964.  The box is 2-3/4" wide x 1" high with a lovely floral design. Ivory satin inside bottom. Hinged. Signed on the bottom.

A ladies " Vanity" - A private place to ponder, play, reflect and dream. A place to try out  a new hairstyle, perfume or expression. Beautiful dresser and vanity containers or boxes were considered a necessity for a ladies boudoir. They were used not only for powder, but for hair clippings, small trinkets, rings and scent pomanders. They were made of glass, porcelain and metals - sometimes gold or sterling. Handpainted, carved or set with lavish stones they have been a part of a woman's vanity through the ages and into more modern times and designs.
