Presented here is a wonderfully patinated French iron urn dating between 1860 - 1890's. It was most likely a silver colored paint over iron, however with the 100 plus years it has spent in the elements, only a hint of the paint remains, and has oxidized or been replaced with this wonderful rust color and texture. This piece weighs 3-1/2 lbs, measures 4-1/2" wide at the top and bottom x 10" tall x 7-1/2" deep in the inside, and was used either as a monument decoration and/or urn for the placement of plant or flowers. The top of the urn opening is in the shape of a stylized flower held by leaves which form the neck of the urn. The bottom is sealed with no opening. For some of the pieces such as this, I treat them with a linseed mixture. This cleans the piece while still leaving the wonderful rust color and patina, and enables you to handle the it without the rust coming off on your hands or clothes. This piece will be fabulous with plant, flowers, or just as it is on a mantle or table, and will definitely be a great addition to your romantic floral Cottage, Shabby Chic home, or garden!
