Gorgeous hand painted Victorian dresser box features a heart shape done all over in gold and a deep wine. Tiny light blue dots cover the goldtone. Surrounding the lovely portrait of a Victorian lady is a design of wreaths and ribbons done in gold on deep wine. The edges are metal framed and the box is hinged. Inside the box are painted flowers on white porcelain. This is in very good condition and the hinge is working fine. A ladies " Vanity" - A private place to ponder, play, reflect and dream. A place to try out a new hairstyle, perfume or expression. Beautiful dresser and vanity containers or boxes were considered a necessity for a ladies boudoir. They were used not only for powder, but for hair clippings, small trinkets, rings and scent pomanders. They were made of glass, porcelain and metals - sometimes gold or sterling. Handpainted, carved or set with lavish stones they have been a part of a woman's vanity through the ages and into more modern times and designs.
