Item Description:

This is a lovely quality set featuring a 32" overall length slide necklace (slide does work) with a beautifully framed hand touched porcelain portrait in soft blue, green and rose. The necklace itself is aoudlbe strand, however there are 4 tassel strands at the bottom each holding a different charm set with faux pearls. The necklace portrait is 1 x 1-1/4". The bracelet is just as fantastic featuring 4 goldtone strands and a different portrait, but framed identical to the necklace.  Matching tassel charms are at the end of the bracelet and it is adjustable to just about any wrist. The backs of the settings are also ornately designed.  An elegant set meant to be worn and appreciated.

Portrait Jewelry was a favorite of our ancestors and their skills and

love for the art were passed down for generations. The beautiful images including loved ones, flowers and
pastoral romantic scenes were favorite subjects.

Although similar in design, each one became a one of a kind work of art.

Hand painting was of the finest and was done on porcelain, ivory and

other materials. For those not so artistically inclined,(or later for mass production) lithography was applied to the base and then "hand touched" or accented by another.
One famous designer of such  lithography was "Fraggonard".

These romantic scenes are usually signed at the bottom. Factories in Limoges, France supplied porcelain blanks and lithographies were done for for young women to use as a parlor craft to increase their "cultural" dowery
