Item Description:
Really believe this is gold filled although it is unmarked. Like the retro style brooches but with a different design featuring early green plastic rhinestones. Banner across lends itself to a monogram maybe ? Just a little bit different.
Retro jewelry refers to the mid 1930's through the end of the 1940's. A Depression loomed and a war was on the horizon. Jewelry reflected the early days of Hollywood as well as the necessity for restriction in the use of metals due to the war. Most retro jewelry was goldtone, plated or vermeil over sterling. Popular was the "rose gold" look. Most pieces were large "star power" pieces featuring large stones with a sleeker shape and design.
