Nice smaller bronze "Shiva" with a dark patina.   Figure is in excellent condition and weighs a little over one pound.  Measures 6 1/2 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 3 inches deep.

Shiva Nataraja is known as the Lord or King of the dance and the source of all movement within the cosmos. Shiva performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe and make preparations for Lord Vishnu to start the process of creation. Nataraja was first represented in a beautiful series of South Indian bronzes dating from the tenth and twelfth centuries A.D. In these images, Nataraja dances in a circle of flames. He has his right foot supported by a crouching figure (a demon or dwarf) and his left foot elegantly raised. A cobra uncoils from his lower right forearm, and the crescent moon and a skull are on his crest.
