Item Description:
This is one gorgoreous piece of furniture; the first of this type we have ever seen or carried. We believe it to be English, but could well be Scottish and we estimate about 1870's. The piece is six feet wide and 64 inches to peak of back board. Serving top is 37 inches high. Light mahogany in color with a beautiful patina. In lieu of a mirron it has a solid mahogany back board, which has applique hand carved trin (see photo), which in my estimation is more impressive than a mirror. Overall this piece is in very good shape with a couple of marks on the top, but all things considered the various owners took very good care of this piece. We had to replace a couple of drawer botton guides, but that's it. Note the hand carved dove tailed drawers and the very unusual "old" lions head pulls and backplates -- all original as far as we can tell. This is a piece to be cherished.
