Vintage Sterling Silver Worry Beads

I'm not exactly sure about the proper use for this - but I would call it " worry beads " .It consists of a herringbone style sterling chain 12" long and doubled with 10mm sterling silver beads that slide on the chain along with a shield shape slide mechanism.
