Item Description:
Los Ballesteros Taxco Mexican sterling silver shell earrings are incredibly beautiful and expertly crafted. They came from the estate of a wealthy collector and we think they date to the late 1970s - early 1980s which their large size would attest to in terms of style. They measure a whopping 1-3/4 x 1-3/8" with ear clips that retain their original tension. They are in Excellent Condition and are signed with the silver content, .925, as well as "MM 34" and are identified as Taxco, Mexico with the appropriate stylized B mark as shown in Hougart's book on Page 36 and displayed in our picture. They weigh approximately 31.02 grams of sterling silver. If there were a good, better, best ranking for Ballesteros Taxco pieces, we would rank these at "best" as the design and craftsmanship are very much at the top of any ranking, IMHO. A great example of the best of Ballesteros' work as well as a stunning and large pair of clip earrings for those who love important Mexican sterling earrings.
