Biedermeier period German beer stein dating Ca. 1860 has a gorgeous hand painted top depicting the famous, King Gambrinus, the historical symbol of beer, drinking and the joys of life. This glass beer stein has been in my personal collection for many years. The painted top is amazing. The stein measures approximately 6-1/4" to the tip of the lever at the top. The diameter of the stein is approximately 2-5/8" and the condition is excellent. The bottom of the stein has a decorative panel effect for two inches from the bottom and there are four per side and there are two mold marks in the body of the glass going up the sides from the center of the handle on one side and directly across it on the other. The metal appears to be pewter. The loop of the cover on the handle has a bit of play, but that appears to be original to the piece. A stein collector's dream! (#45823-KingGambrinusStein)
