Massive vintage sterling silver heart locket contains space for two large photos inside with the original frames and one clear plastic cover. The locket is engraved with the name, "Marian" on the front in an unusual, early, flourishing script on a diagonal. The inside has a swirled butler finish and is marked "STERLING" on each side. The locket contains charming turn-of-the-century baby pictures. The locket measures approximately 2-3/8 x 2-1/4" without the bale. The chain has an unusual capsule-shaped barrel clasp and measures approximately 27". The heart and chain are very heavy, weighing 70.6 grams. In Excellent Condition, there are a couple of very light and unremarkable dings on the cover and a very superficial pen point ding on the back with the expected patina. The inside reverse paper or cardboard of the pictures is shown to illustrate the age of the photographs as well as to exhibit the sterling tabs that hold them in which is unique to lockets of this earlier era. The reverse of the locket is in Excellent Condition as well.
