Victorian heart locket is a large locket with the original pictures inside with their original frames and glassine on a long gold filled, delicate rope chain. The locket measures approximately 1-5/16 x 1-1/8" (without the jump ring bail) and is signed "S & BL CO" with a star as shown in our pictures. The chain measures approximately 27" long with a spring ring closure. We believe the locket is gold filled and the chain is marked 1/20 12K GF. The S & B Lederer Co. was founded in the late 1800s and the last marking, according to Rainwater in American Jewelry Manufacturers, was in 1931. The locket is a beautiful, simple heart with no embellishment other than its beautiful, aged gold patina. We are certain that the locket is Victorian and dates to the early 1900s. There are two original pictures in the locket that are appropriate to its age. In Very Good/Excellent Condition, there is some evidence of the locket's age, but there are no serious dings or defects and the locket closes crisply. This beautiful and nostalgic vintage Victorian locket is certain to have a welcome life with a new owner for at least another generation and perhaps more. (#40194-LocketVictorianHeart)
