Vintage snake pin and earrings set by ART is one of those wonderful, highly sought after, vintage sets that come by every once in a long while. Snake motifs have been used in costume jewelry since ancient times as a protection and the intertwined snakes came to be known as the concept of eternal love during Victorian times. Let's face it, either you love snake jewelry or you don't, but if you do, and we do, this is one of the all-time vintage greats. ART was known for their expert enamel work and this set is no exception. The orange/red rhinestone eyes of the snakes contrast beautifully with the light blue enameled details of the snakes and the red enameled forked tongues of the open mouths on both the intertwined snakes of the brooch and each of the earrings. In rich antiqued gold tone metal, the pin measures approximately 2-7/8 x 1" and has a safety closure. It is in Excellent Condition and signed, '"ART" with a copyright symbol on the reverse of the pin raised from the mold. The matching ear clips measure approximately 1 x 1/2" and the clip closures retain their original tension. While clearly a set, the ear clips are not signed, probably due to lack of space. There is a small amount of light blue enamel missing on one earring and two pinpoint chips that are only noticeable upon magnification, so we are calling the earring condition Very Good. Otherwise, the set is actually quite pristine. This set came in various color combinations and we think the one we offer here is the best because the antiqued gold tone is so rich and wearable against the rhinestones and enamel. Snake jewelry lovers will be thrilled to own this very special ART snake pin and earrings set! (#41458-ARTSnakePinEarringsVintage)
