Turtle pin / brooch with a givre art glass cabochon "shell" in shades of blue with clear rhinestones surrounding it and a clear rhinestone pave head with simulated pearl eyes in a stunning, darkened matte gold tone metal. This is perhaps the best vintage turtle pin we have ever had and it came to us as a vintage salesman's sample from the estate of a rep for Marvella as well as other lines during the 1960s and 70s. As you might imagine, the samples given to the salesmen were always the finest quality that was produced and many of the salesmen carried samples for other lines and the lines of their colleagues. We found many different companies represented in this lot, among them Tortolani, Richelieu, Sauteur and Original by Robert to name a few. This amazing turtle pin measures approximately 2-1/2 x 1-3/8" and has a safety closure. We always read descriptions that say certain items should have been signed and we usually dismiss them. In this case, that would be a very good assessment of the quality of this unsigned pin. Turtle pins are especially in vogue now and most of the contemporary designers have them prominently in their lines. They represent eternal life and are regarded as a symbol of longevity, wisdom, strength, stability fortitude and patience. The beauty and meaning behind this impressive vintage turtle pin / brooch will certainly make a lovely and important fashion statement as well as a great conversation piece as well!
