This is an original 1939 Louis Marx Mortimer Snerd (Edgar Bergen) Tricky Auto Tin Litho Wind Up Toy Car.
The character toy is original and in good to very good condition.
Everytime I wind this toy up and let it do its twirls I grin and almost laugh out loud. Wind it up while you hold the rear wheel and then set it down and watch it go backward and lift up off the front wheels as it spins. Then forward it goes with Mortimer's head spinning 360 degrees and again lifting up off the front wheels before it reverses. It continues this pattern with 360 degree turns and repeats this movement. Work best on a smooth surface.
The toy is lithographed with bright colors and printed on the rear of the car is the early Marx toy logo, Louis Marx & Co New York, NY, Made in USA, Pat's Pend'g. Then Mortimer Snerd 1939 Edgar Bergen on the trunk.
The paint is in very good condition except for the wheels which are worn where the tire hits the road, as evident in the photo's. Also some wear on the left portion of the windshield and a little wear on radiator grill edges. All things cosidered it is very good condition considering it's 74 years old. Auto measures 7 inches long, 6 3/4 Inches in height and 3 1/2 inches deep.
I have done my best to describe this toy, but don't bid expecting that it is in a "like new" condition. As I said it works great and most of the body paint is in very good condition.
