Fantastic Mexican bracelet depicts the Aztec Goddess of Water, Childbirth, Baptism and Fertility, Chalchiutlicue, in sterling silver (tested). The bracelet is chunky with sturdy-walled hollow rectangles, decorated with images of Chalchiutlicue, alternating with three bead sections for a length of 8" with a sturdy pin closure. The bracelet is approximately one inch wide and 5/16" thick. It is in Excellent Condition. The pin is slightly bent, but it appears necessary for it to thread through all three round beads to secure the bracelet. It has a signature that appears to be an E or F with a conjoined and stylized M and the mark, SILVER. The early Mexican silversmiths worked with .925, .950 and .980 silver. According the Billie Hougart, in his book on Mexican Silversmiths, this early mark often stands for silver that is .925 or better. On three separate tests, this bracelet tested for at least .925 silver or higher. We love the design, the jangle of the silver sections and the enchanting image of Chalchiutlicue. Mexican silver lovers will love this early bracelet that dates Ca. the 1930s! (#45827-MexicanVirocochaSilverBracelet)
