Vintage Japanese Damascene Compact dates to the 1950s and has a trademark that we are unable to identify. This is a very nice, quality compact that may have been brought here from a trip or that was made for export.

The compact measures approximately 3" in diameter and has its original sifter and puff, both unused. Evidence of the attention to detail is a silk moire. textured pattern in the empty powder section.

At about eleven o'clock on the face of the compact. you may think you see a blemish, but if you make it larger, you will see that it is a butterfly and part of the design. The condition of this compact is Excellent. The only defect of note a tiny, dark spot, about 1/8" round on the bottom of the compact. Upon close examination, it looks like a bit of the lacquer is missing and the metal reflects the light differently.
