The Sphinx Jewellery Company was founded in 1948 in England. This is a fairly rare signature and they did beautiful, quality, hand made work. They manufactured for many high-end names like Ciner, Boucher, KJL and Butler & Wilson, as well as many high-end department stores like Nieman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks and more. They produced and reproduced the Boucher peacock and Birds of Fantasy on their own label. The company closed in the 1990s

The pin brooch measures approximately 2 x 1-1/2' and has a safety closure. The dome of the pin is raised to 3/4 of an inch.

It is signed, "SPHINX' in block letters on the reverse.

In Excellent Condition, the plating is some of the heaviest we have seen and the color of the gold is very rich. The rhinestone colors are beautiful and the domed effect of the pin brooch makes the colors jump out at you in a dramatic twinkle of color. Each stone has the effect of a multi-pronged setting. The purple stones are raised and set on top of the first layer.

For collectors, this one will be a special find. Fashion forward from the 1960s, this one will stand the test of time.
